Monitoring Member States' environmental policy progress

Effectively monitoring EU resource efficiency requires knowledge on the progress and achievements in the 27 EU member states. In order to foster implementation of waste-related European Directives the state of national implementation among the EU-27 must be analysed and assessed. The 2011 Eurostat monitoring report reviews the progress and implementation of the EU sustainable development strategy. The 2011 monitoring report was published on the Eurostat website. As partner in a consortium with the Vienna University of Economic and Business (RIMAS), INFRAS, and the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), the Ecologic Institute played a substantial role in drafting the monitoring report on behalf of Eurostat.Read more

On 24 and 25 October  2011, Stephan Sina, Senior Fellow at Ecologic Legal, and Gesa Homann, Researcher at Ecologic Institute, held a seminar on current issues in German and European environmental law at the Berlin Academy of Public Administration (Verwaltungsakademie Berlin).

This was the second time since 2010 that staff of Ecologic Institute have organized an event of this kind. The Berlin Academy of Public Administration is the primary institute for the training and postgraduate education of civil servants in the German Federal State of Berlin.

Commentary on the German PRTR law

Ecologic Institute writes a legal commentary on the German PRTR-Act. Under this law and an EU-Regulation, operators of certain installations in Germany have to report data on pollutants for publication in a German as well as to a European pollutant release and transfer register (PRTR).
