Kurtis Anthony was an Intern at the San Mateo office of Ecologic Institute. He was interested in health indicators and health policy. He is a native English speaker and is studying German.
At Ecologic Institute Kurtis Anthony was working on the 2014 edition of the report Indicators for a Sustainable San Mateo County, which is a partnership effort between Ecologic Institute and Sustainable San Mateo County. The report analyzes and presents data about social, economic, and environmental indicators in San Mateo County to better understand trends in these areas.
Since graduating from university, Kurtis Anthony participated in the Congress Bundstag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals, a year-long cultural exchange program financed by the American and German governments. During the program he interned at the TUMAINI-Institut für Präventionsmanagement (Germany) and prepared materials for a study comparing diabetes prevention practices in Europe. After returning to the United States, Kurtis Anthony interned at the Sierra Club where he researched and led outreach efforts for the Health Communities Forum, a series of fora about the social, environmental, and economic effects of more sustainable urban planning.
Kurtis Anthony graduated from the University of Chicago in 2011 with a degree in biological sciences, where his coursework focused on human genetics and chronic disease. He is working on applications to epidemiology and health research graduate programs.
