Mona Freundt

Mona Freundt

Junior Researcher

Mona Freundt was a Junior Researcher at Ecologic Institute. Her work primarily focused on climate and energy policy, in particular on governance aspects and climate policy instruments. She has experience in company climate disclosure and has worked with institutional investors on managing climate impacts of investments. Mona works in the German and English language and speaks Danish.

At Ecologic Institute Mona worked on projects relating to EU reforms and the implementation of the Paris Agreement. She was involved in several projects, such as "Climate Policies as the new trade mark of the EU" funded by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), "Implications of the Paris Agreement" funded by the German Environment Agency (UBA) and a project by the European Climate Foundation (ECF) regarding Political and Legal Analysis on 2030 Climate and Energy Governance & Effort Sharing.

Previous to joining Ecologic Institute, Mona worked at the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in Berlin and London (United Kingdom) over the course of two years, analysing company disclosure and climate risks for investors and other stakeholders. Following her work with CDP, she was involved in projects at Germanwatch and the NewClimate Institute with a focus on renewable energy and low-carbon infrastructure in cities.

Mona graduated top of her class from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London with a master's degree in Global Energy and Climate Policy. Her thesis focused on Non-Party Stakeholders in the UNFCCC process. She also holds a bachelor's degree in business management. During her undergraduate studies Mona spent a year at the Copenhagen Business School (Denmark) as a "free mover student" and interned at the Daimler AG and the Deutsche Umwelthilfe e.V..
