Conference of the Food Industry in Berlin/Brandenburg – Keynote

On 22 September 2020 the 10th Day of the Food Industry in Brandenburg took place. For the first time through an online format, the food industry of the Berlin/Brandenburg metropolitan area discussed future paths for the development of the food industry in 2030. Stephanie Wunder from Ecologic Institute held the keynote speech. The video recording of the event is available online.

The motto of the event organized by the cluster food industry of the Brandenburg Economic Development Agency was "Responsibility. Sustainability. Transformation". After welcoming speeches by Dorothee Berger, Spokesperson of the Brandenburg Cluster for Food Industry, and Silvia Bender, State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection of the State of Brandenburg, Stephanie Wunder, Senior Fellow at Ecologic Institute, gave the keynote address at the event

Under the title "Rethinking Food: Opportunities and Ideas for the Transformation of the Food System", she developed concrete options for action for the food industry in the metropolitan region, based on a summary of the existing problems and an analysis of the new political dynamics (video recording starting from 23:00 min).

Subsequently, three parallel discussion forums were held on various topics:

  1. New thinking – new action. Problem-solving communities from science, business and society rethought
  2. New recycling systems for recyclable materials. From farm to fork and from waste management to plant growth
  3. Food industry 2030 – trend vegan for more sustainability. In this panel Stephanie Wunder discussed together with Friedrich Büse of the meat alternatives manufacturing company amidori as well as Monika Schreiner of the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops and the project food4future about the role of meat alternatives for the nourishing economy of the future (video recording starting from 3:08 min).
