In the context of our International Fellowship Program in Berlin, we are looking for an

International Fellow with Focus on Health, Climate and Nature-based Solutions

Start date: Flexible between 1 May and 1 September 2022
Duration: 1 year
Location: Berlin, Germany

On the occasion of our 25th anniversary, we are happy to invite an aspiring researcher to join Ecologic Institute for a year to work on pressing topics in the nexus area of health and climate and/or nature-based solutions. The Ecologic Institute is looking forward to receiving applications from professionals with an international background and expertise in this field. Our anniversary fellow will join our team and get involved in our ongoing projects, as well as pursue his or her own research in this field of topics.

Your Tasks:

  • Develop and pursue your own research ideas under the guidance of your Ecologic Institute mentor
  • Support ongoing projects with a focus on topics at the nexus of health, climate and/or nature-based solutions
  • Research, policy analysis, conducting interviews, planning and realizing webinars or events, elaborating texts, creating podcasts
  • Participation in relevant events, webinars, and conferences
  • Presentation of research results and findings to diverse audiences
  • Follow relevant global and European policy developments, major research publications, and relevant scientific debates
  • Broaden your understanding of key policy issues relating to your field of work through exchange and networking with other (policy) scientists

To qualify for the International Fellowship Program at the Ecologic Institute, you should meet at least two of the following criteria:

  • Relevant master's degree and/or several years of work experience in one or more of the listed fields
  • Relevant work experience outside of Germany
  • Experience living outside of Germany
  • A relevant network within or outside of Germany

To qualify for the advertised position in the context of the International Fellowship Program, we expect:

  • Knowledge in the field of health and climate, health and nature-based solutions (including climate relevant aspects e.g., climate mitigation), or the intersect of all three topic areas (e.g., nature-based solutions for climate protection and healthy urban adaptation)
  • Creative thinker with a high motivation for designing and implementing independent research
  • Team orientation, with the ability to also work independently and interdisciplinarily
  • Very good knowledge of English to understand complex scientific literature and be able to write and hold presentations; additional language expertise is beneficial
  • Ideally, experience with working in international teams
  • Ideally, experience cooperating with research institutes, civil society organizations and / or governmental representatives
