Michaela Scharpf is a legal trainee at Ecologic Institute. She supports the legal team, especially in the research project concerned with modernizing European and German soil protection law. She is particularly interested in in European energy law. A native German speaker, Michaela Scharpf also works in English and French.
After her First State Exam, Michaela Scharpf gained experience as a legal assistant at the European Office of the German Bar Association in Brussels (Belgium) in the field of Rule of Law within the EU and European environmental law. During her "Rechtsreferendariat" at the Higher Regional Court of Munich (Germany), she worked at a law firm specialized in energy law in Munich, where she focused on emissions trading and legal issues related to e-mobility. At the 2022 Alumni Meeting of the German Academic Exchange Service, Michaela Scharpf was part of the working group on climate protection within the European Green Deal.
Michaela Scharpf studied at the University of Augsburg. There, her studies focused on national and international environmental and economic regulatory law. In the context of her thesis, she dealt with the correlation of EU state aid law and the promotion of renewable energies. In addition, Michaela Scharpf worked as a guest student at the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the OECD in the field of international relations.
