Jin Huang is a Transatlantic Fellow for the summer of 2008 at Ecologic. Her focus is on water quality monitoring for the European Analytical Quality Control - Water Information System for Europe (EAQC-WISE) project. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, and is on the track of obtaining Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.E.O) status in Canada. Jin, a native Chinese speaker, fluent in English, has a working knowledge of French and a basic knowledge of German.
Prior to her fellowship at Ecologic, Jin worked at Otonabee Region Conservation Authority in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, 2007, where she gained her experience in flood risk assessment and management, hydrologic and hydraulics network operations and maintenance, and land-use planning. In the fall of 2006, Jin completed her own research at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in the Master of Applied Science program, where she researched biosolids (sewage sludge) disinfection and management issues as they relate to the innovative approaches for sludge treatment. Within this research, she conducted laboratory analysis for water quality monitoring, sludge characterization, and microbiological culturing and inactivation processes.
Past publications include the "Dewatering and disinfection of aerobic and anaerobic sludge using an electrokinetic (EK) system", Water Science & Technology, IWA Publishing 2008, and several other conference papers.
Looking ahead, Jin is planning on participating in water resources management and climate change related projects involving the transcontinental cooperation of China, Canada and Europe within the next few years.
