Dr. Maria Miguel Ribeiro
Maria Miguel Ribeiro worked as a Researcher for Ecologic Institute Vienna. She was mainly involved in projects concerning rural development programmes. A native Portuguese speaker, she also works in Spanish and English and has basic knowledge of German, French and Lao.
For her PhD, which she successfully completed at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna in 2008, Maria Miguel Ribeiro analysed factors that affect supply chains of non-timber forest products in the Lao People's Democratic Republic – a project she completed in cooperation with CIAT (International Centre for Tropical Agriculture) in Laos. Before coming to Ecologic Institute, she worked with CIAT in Columbia in the area of business development services. There, her main research interest was the development of sustainable supply chains for natural resources.
From 1996 to 2001, Maria Miguel Ribeiro studied Agrarian Sciences Engineering at the University of Porto (Portugal), completing her degree with a thesis on “Learning behaviour of predatory mites Phytoseiulus persimilis“ at the University of Wageningen (Netherlands). In 2003, she completed a post graduate course in Management at Vrije University in Brussels (Belgium).
