Cathy Schechter was a Project Assistant at Ecologic Institute. Her main areas of interest were the history of water management in California, city and regional planning, state and local water policy, and environmental education. She is a native English speaker, speaks some German, and has beginning knowledge of Spanish.
Cathy Schechter was working on a project for Ecologic Institute to prepare the 2012 Indicators Report for Sustainable San Mateo County. This annual report tracks thirty key sustainability indicators for the county of San Mateo, California. The project involved meeting with multiple stakeholders regarding sustainability issues in San Mateo, researching and preparing the data for each indicator, and writing and editing the report.
Prior to joining Ecologic Institute, Cathy Schechter taught in an elementary school and also worked as an Account Manager for a marketing/advertising firm. Most recently, she cofounded an environmental group, GreenTeam of Glendale, whose mission was to raise awareness of local sustainability issues in Glendale, California, and provide citizens with practical steps for action.
Cathy Schechter received her BA in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She studied for a semester in Germany with the Institute for European Studies and took classes at University of Freiburg (Germany). In addition, she received her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
