Britta Ammermüller, née Pielen, is currently working on her PhD at Leipzig University at the Endowed Chair for Environmental Technology in Water Management and Environmental Management in SMEs.
As a Fellow at Ecologic Institute, Britta Ammermüller focused on the role and importance of economic instruments in environmental policy. Her research and consulting activities included the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive in EU Member States and Accession Countries with an emphasis on its economic aspects. In addition, she was engaged in projects within the area of liberalisation of the water sector both at the national and the European level. Her other interests included waste management and consumer protection policy. Britta Ammermüller is a native speaker of German and works in English and French.
Britta Ammermüller completed internships at the London Electricity Association, the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) in Berlin and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova in co-operation with the World Bank.
Britta Ammermüller completed a master's degree in International Economic Studies at Maastricht University (the Netherlands). In the course of her studies she also followed courses at the University of Liège (Belgium) and spent a semester as an Erasmus student at the University Pierre Mendès France in Grenoble (France).
