From 4 to 15 July 2016, the 16th ICAP Summer School on Emissions Trading brought together experts from emerging economies and developing countries to learn about emissions trading as a tool for climate protection and to discuss the options and experiences of implementing such systems in developing countries. The Brussels course was the sixteenth of its kind since 2009. 28 mid-career professionals from eleven countries attended the course, which was facilitated by Benjamin Görlach and Matthias Duwe of the Ecologic Institute.Read more

On 23 May 2016, the ELEEP Network hosted a Side Event at the May UNFCCC meeting in Bonn. The event featured guest speakers Aki Kachi (ELEEP Fellow 2015/2016) and Michael Mehling (MIT). Matthias Duwe (Head of Climate, Ecologic Institute) moderated the event. During the event, the speakers discussed existing options for the development of carbon markets post-Paris and provided a perspective on what they could mean for carbon markets in the US and the EU. Regions and Cities within the Global Climate Change Process – a Perspective for the Future

In this project, Ecologic Institute together with ICLEI and Umweltbundesamt Wien, support the Committee of the Regions in analysing the role of cities and regions in the UNFCCC process after the adoption of the Paris Agreement. Management of European Overseas (Sub)Tropical Biodiversity in Support of Sustainable Development

Policy Recommendations and Priorities for Research Cooperation
NetBiome-CSA is a European funded project that aims to extend and strengthen research partnerships and cooperation for the smart and sustainable management of tropical and subtropical biodiversity in Outermost Regions (ORs) and Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs). The NetBiome Network, with the participation of Ecologic Institute, has developed a Strategic Document that compiles a series of policy and research priorities for improving knowledge about biodiversity and the practice of biodiversity governance in the EU ORs and OCTs. A new report presents the conclusions and policy recommendations of the EU-funded research project, "European Union Action to Fight Environmental Crime" (EFFACE). The report includes recommendations for action to better combat environmental crime at the EU and Member State level, distinguishing between core and supplementary recommendations. Ecologic Institute Ranked as a Top Ten Global Environment Think Tank for the Sixth Year in a Row

The launch of the University of Pennsylvania's 2015 Global Think Tank Ranking Report found Ecologic Institute increasing its position in several categories while remaining a top ten environment think tank for the sixth year in a row. Ecologic Institute placed at 9th position amongst 95 eligible institutions in the category Top Environment Think Tanks, a grouping assessing leading environmental policy institutions on a global level.
