Arif Jensen was a Web Developer at Ecologic Institute. He designed, developed, and managed online tools and websites for projects and the Institute. Specializing in the content management system (CMS) Drupal and responsive design, he visualized projects from start to finish. Arif speaks English and conversational Turkish and German.
Arif supported and advised project teams regarding concepts, data management, and usability. For the European research project Global Material Flows and Demand-supply Forecasting for Mineral Strategies (MinFuture) – funded by the EU Research and Innovation program Horizon 2020 – he designed the project website and developed specific tools and applications. Within the project Scientific Coordination of Research Projects on Plastic in the Environment – sources, sinks, solutions (PlastikNet) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) he built the bilingual website Plastic in the Environment which contains an interactive map.
Arif trained international project teams in the operation of web applications and was responsible for technical support, maintenance and further development the project websites. He is a member of the Drupal community and supports the Open Source philosophy.
Before arriving at Ecologic Institute, Arif worked several years in the United States, Cyprus, Turkey, and Germany. He has been working in application and web development for the past decade. Arif has developed the Germany + Brazil 2013-2014 project website, funded by BMBF, the online e-commerce magazine adornomag with interactive articles, and also has recently developed a custom plug-in for the Shopify e-commerce system.
Beside this he has many years of experience in plantation management and apiculture.
Arif studied Computer Science in his home state in Santa Cruz, California.
