Anthony Holmes works as a Research Assistant at Ecologic Institute Berlin. He is specialized in public international law and international human rights law. Anthony Holmes is a native German and English speaker and additionally has good knowledge of French and Spanish as well as basic knowledge of Arabic and Dutch.

At Ecologic Institute, Anthony Holmes supports the Legal Team in projects and publications in the fields of international and European law.

Before joining Ecologic Institute, Anthony Holmes worked as a research assistant in the German Parliament. In the course of his Bachelor of Laws (LLB), he interned with the Defence Support Section of the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT) in the Extraordinary Chambers of Cambodia (ECCC) in Phnom Penh. He gained experience in legal research as a research assistant to Dr. Nadia Banteka at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and completed a traineeship with Dr. Steinbrück Platise at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. Anthony Holmes currently supports the Greek NGO Advocates Abroad in asylum claims and family reunification procedures.

Alongside his work at Ecologic Institute, Anthony Holmes is studying political science at the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2017, he completed an LLB in International & European Law at The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. In his bachelor's thesis, he analyzed the possibility of employing the legal design tool of 'trigger termination clauses' in UN Security Council Resolutions authorizing military interventions under the 'responsibility to protect' (R2P) principle and its possible effects on the execution of the mandate. Anthony Holmes further completed a certificate degree in 'Fundamentals of German Law' at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
