The Jean Monnet Network on Atlantic Studies is an initiative across the four Atlantic continents by 10 leading think tanks and independent experts to collaborate in interdisciplinary exploration of three emerging pan-Atlantic themes of particular relevance to the European Union: (1) energy and transport in the context of climate change; (2) commercial interactions such as trade and investment; and (3) pan-Atlantic challenges to human security.
For each of the three thematic areas, there are a conference, a series of publications, and activities to engage next-generation and established scholars in collaborative research. This drives the Network's engagement with policymakers, civil society representatives, and wider publics. R. Andreas Kraemer, Founder and Director Emeritus of Ecologic Institute, participates in the Jean Monnet Network on Atlantic Studies.
At the first conference of the Jean Monnet Network on Atlantic Studies at the Center for Transatlantic Relations (CTR) in Washington DC in July 2017, R. Andreas Kraemer spoke on "The Co-Transformation of Energy & Transport: Outlook for the Wider Atlantic". The presentation was developed into a book chapter published in the first of three edited books emanating from the network:

At the third network conference at the Luso-American Foundation (FLAD) and hosted by the Portuguese Institute for International Relations (IPRI) in Lisbon, Portugal, in December 2019, R. Andreas Kraemer discussed "Challenges to Human Security in the Atlantic", and how to respond to them.
