On 29 May 2019, Doris Knoblauch and Linda Mederake, both scientific researchers at Ecologic Institute, were guest "professors" at the Nürti Üni, the schoolchildren's university of the Nürtingen Primary School in Berlin-Kreuzberg. They held a lecture on "Plastics Crisis – Advantages of Plastics and the Problems of Plastic Consumption".

Part of the lecture was designed and performed by pupils themselves under the title "Good plastics, bad plastics". In their lecture, Doris Knoblauch and Linda Mederake then explained why plastics are used to such an extent in everyday life, which entry paths plastics use to find their way into the environment, and what each and everyone can do about it.  They also presented the citizen science project "Plastic Pirates". The lecture in the auditorium of the Nürtingen Primary School was attended by 240 pupils and their teachers.

The lecture was repeated on 18 June 2019 for interested parents.

Plastics are all-rounders: they are light, stable, easy to shape, inexpensive to produce and durable. What is in many ways a positive characteristic also turns out to be the biggest problem of the material.
