Dr Aissa Rechlin is a Senior Fellow with a background in geosciences working on resource conservation at Ecologic Institute. Her work focuses on resource use and efficiency in the circular economy, environmental governance and transformation processes. She works in English, German and Spanish.

Dr Aissa Rechlin leads the project "Resource Efficiency and Natural Resources in an International Context", which supports the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUV) and the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) by evaluating studies of international organisations in the field of resource conservation. Dr Rechlin is also responsible for Ecologic Institute's contribution to several UBA-funded projects. This includes the scientific support of the development of a strategy for a circular economy in Germany (Nationale Kreislaufwirtschaftsstrategie NKWS). In this project, Ecologic Institute primarily examines the social compatibility of measures of the circular economy, and identifies and analyses indicators. The TransIS project "Sustainable Development of Infrastructures in Regions of Structural Change" focuses on the Rhenish, Central German and Lusatian coalfields and examines the contributions that infrastructure design based on sustainability criteria and innovative networking of regional infrastructures can make to socio-ecological structural change and the resulting impulses for sustainable regional development. Dr Aissa Rechlin is also contributing to the Horizon Europe TransPharm project "Transforming into a sustainable European pharmaceutical sector". Here she is working with a team that aims to develop a holistic framework for integrated sustainability assessment.

Prior to joining Ecologic Institute, Dr Rechlin gained experience as a project and team leader at Projekt-Consult GmbH (2015-2022). The company specialises in consulting projects on responsible mining and sourcing of minerals worldwide. She has also worked as a technology transfer consultant at the Technische Universität Berlin (2013-2014) and Universität Hamburg (2015) and as a researcher at the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam (2007-2012).

Dr. Aissa Rechlin holds a PhD in Geosciences from the Freie Universität Berlin and a Diploma (equal to master's degree) in Geology-Paleontology from Universität Hamburg.
