Regulatory Cooperation under TTIP – a Risk for Democracy and National Regulation?

This study conducted by Ecologic Institute with support from the Heinrich Boell Foundation aims at providing factual background to the debate on regulatory cooperation within the TTIP. The study looks at whether fears are justified that regulatory cooperation could lead to loweer levels of protection in the EU (and to a lesser extent) in the US and parliamentary processes being bypassed. The Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network (ELEEP)

The Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network (ELEEP) is a joint project of the Ecologic Institute and the Atlantic Council. Launched in fall 2011, ELEEP is a dynamic, membership-only forum for the exchange of ideas, policy solutions, best-practices, and professional development for early and mid-career American and European leaders working on environmental and energy issues. ELEEP currently has about 100 members, split between the US and the EU. Members debate topics of the day online and meet regularly for study tours and other face-to-face activities. ELEEP is financially supported by the European Union, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, and the Allianz Foundation for North America.Read more

Preparatory Action, Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment of Development of the Arctic
A new report on Arctic information and communication needs ("Gap Analysis Report") has been released as part of the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment of development of the Arctic Preparatory Action project, funded by DG Environment of the European Commission. The Gap Analysis Report was led by Ecologic Institute in partnership with the European Science Foundation, National Research Council of Italy, Sámi Education Institute, and Tromsø Centre for Remote Sensing. Think Tanks in a Time of Crisis and Paralysis

On the Sidelines or Catalysts for Ideas and Actions?
The world's first meeting of leading international think tanks based in and around the European continent, which took place on 20 November 2012 in Rome, concluded with recommendations for think tanks, donors, and policy communities concerning think tanks. The Summit focused on lessons from the current fiscal and economic crises in Europe, and sought ways to enhance the role of think tanks in anticipating crises and providing effective early warning, formulating dynamic and innovative ideas for solutions, and overcoming the policy paralysis that often aggravates crises. Sydney Baloue, Transatlantic Fellow at Ecologic Institute, acted as lead rapporteur for the event. The conference paper is available for download.Read more
