Elisa Thomaset works as a Researcher at Ecologic Institute. Her main research interests include responsible resource extraction, sustainable consumption, societal nature and gender relations, and  the transition towards a circular society. A native speaker of German, Elisa Thomaset is fluent in English and Spanish and has good knowledge of French and Portuguese.

As part of the project Resource Efficiency and Natural Resources in an International Context, Elisa Thomaset supports the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMUV) and the German Environment Agency (UBA). In this role, she conducts background analyses, prepares speaking points, and participated as an observer in the 31st session of the International Resource Panel of the UN Environment Programme. Additionally, Elisa Thomaset worked on the UBA-funded project Scientific Support of the Development of a National Strategy for Circular Economy in Germany, where she researched and reviewed the social compatibility of planned policies within the National Circular Economy Strategy. Furthermore, she conducted a literature review on the environmental impacts of bioeconomy activities in rural areas of Europe as part of the Horizon project Concepts, Tools, and Applications for Community-driven Bioeconomy Development in European Rural Areas (SCALE-UP).

Prior to joining Ecologic Institute, Elisa Thomaset worked as an editor and public relations officer at Germanwatch, where she focused on topics related to international climate policy, corporate due diligence, climate litigation, and the EU Ecodesign Regulation. During her master's degree, Elisa Thomaset was employed at VENRO as a student assistant and completed an internship in the raw materials' policy department at PowerShift. There she worked on the social and environmental impacts of the extraction of raw materials needed for sustainable development, in particular in relation to the drafting of the European Batteries Regulation, and then continued her work as a freelance policy advisor for PowerShift.

Elisa Thomaset completed her undergraduate degree with a major in English and US American Studies and minors in romance languages and literature and political science at the University of Bamberg. She completed a master's degree in Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies with a focus on gender studies at Freie Universität Berlin. In her master's thesis, for which she did a research stay in northern Chile, she investigated the politicization of the lithium mining area in and around the Salar de Atacama in the debate on sustainable development. During her studies, Elisa Thomaset spent a semester abroad at the University Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris (France) and at the College of Charleston (USA) and attended the summer school at the University of Lisbon (Portugal).
