This report summarizes the results of the Hydromorphology workshop series (2008, 2012, 2016, 2021) of the German Federal Environment Agency in the form of a synthesis. In doing so, key topics that run through all four workshops are highlighted and the results of the workshop discussions are presented in condensed form. The outlook relates the results of the workshop series to current developments in the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive in the form of key messages.

Ecologic Institute organised the fourth workshop of the series "Hydromorphology" together with the Planungsbüro Zumbroich. Subsequently, the present technical report was produced.
