In this document Ecologic Institute presents a concept for the online presentation and dissemination of DG Environment's planned Composite Index on Environmental Pressures (CIEP). The concept includes recommendations regarding hosting, information structure and management, content, data display, technical features, look and feel, accessibility and visibility of the CIEP website. In a second step the costs of the concept’s implementation are roughly estimated. The online media concept is based on a description of the desired user groups. Furthermore, it is inspired by reviewing websites presenting other composite indicator data.

Project

To make the human impact on the environment more transparent for a non specialist audience, the European Commission develops a composite indicator on environmental pressures. The Ecologic institute supports the development process by drafting a methodological report, which summarizes the methodological choices and their consequences. Additionally papers for the communication of the index are supplied.
