Julia Jägle works as a Fellow for Ecologic Institute and coordinates the Institute's activities on food systems. Her research areas include sustainable food and agriculture. She works in English and German.
Projects Julia Jägle is involved in are "Sustainable Management: Socio-Ecological Transformation of the Food System (STErn)", "Reduction of Food Waste in Private Households in Germany" and "New Cooperation for Sustainable Landuse and Food Supply in Urban-Rural Areas (KOPOS)".
Prior to joining Ecologic Institute, Julia Jägle worked for the Science Platform Sustainability 2030 (wpn2030) at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, where she was involved in the implementation of the German Sustainability Strategy (DNS), in particular the topics of sustainable consumption, circular economy and the cultural perspective of sustainability. Prior to that, she led the impact area of the educational program "GemüseKlasse" at the social enterprise Acker e.V. funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
As a result of growing up on a dairy farm and completing a master degree in Sustainable Agricultural Management, Julia Jägle contributes in-depth theoretical and practical agricultural knowledge. Julia Jägle also studied Culture and Technology (BA) at the Technische Universität Berlin and spent five years working at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science on the topics of biodiversity & species diversity, extinction of animal species & peoples; history of medicine in the early modern period and history of paleobiology.
