The event series "Greening and Diversifying Cities: Biodiversity in Urban Development" addresses the question of how biodiversity can be promoted in cities. The focus is on the possibilities offered by urban development funding. Based on field reports from municipalities and insights into research, experiences, opportunities and challenges will be discussed. Two webinars will be held in the fall of 2023, with an additional symposium planned for March 2024 in Leipzig.
The 2nd webinar "Effective measures promoting biodiversity – implementation in practice" on 5 October 2023 takes a look at the implementation of concrete measures to promote biodiversity in the context of urban development funding. What challenges arise in the creation and maintenance and how can these be overcome?
The series of events is being held as part of the research project "BioVibeS – Taking Biodiversity into Account in Urban Development Funding". The project, which is funded by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation, develops concrete assistance for promoting biodiversity in cities. Interim results will be presented and discussed at the webinars. The project results will be presented at the conference.
