The event series "Greening and Diversifying Cities: Biodiversity in Urban Development" addressed the question of how biodiversity could be promoted in cities. The focus was on the possibilities offered by urban development funding. Based on field reports from municipalities and insights into research, experiences, opportunities, and challenges were discussed. Two webinars were held in the fall of 2023, with an additional symposium planned for March 2024 in Leipzig.

The 1st webinar "Considering biodiversity in urban development funding areas - insights and experiences" on 14 September 2023 focused on how biodiversity could be considered in urban development funding areas. How, for example, could biodiversity, quality of life, and climate adaptation be brought together in integrated urban development concepts and integrated into the overall concept?

The series of events was held as part of the research project "BioVibeS - Taking Biodiversity into Account in Urban Development Funding". The project, which is funded by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation, developes concrete assistance for promoting biodiversity in cities. Interim results were presented and discussed at the webinars. The project results will be presented at the final conference.
