<p>As an component of the project &quot;Scientific Analyses of EU Climate and Energy Package&quot;, Ecologic Institute is organizing a series of events. This series aims to strengthen the energy and climate dialogue between Germany and other EU Member States. The first conference was held in Budapest on 30 and 31 January 2012.</p>

How to spread innovation effectively? How can we bridge the gap between researchers and the target audience, thereby increasing the use of research results? How can we maximize the use and uptake of research results through dissemination? These were among the questions discussed at the WaterDiss2.0 Consensus Conference: Expediting the Transfer of European Water Research, organized as part of the WaterDiss2.0 project on Dissemination and uptake of FP water research results.

Ecologic Institute organized the final conference of IN-STREAM from the 27 to 28th of September in Brussels. The conference summarized the research results of IN-STREAM and provided a forum for an intensive discussion with other parties involved in the Beyond GDP process, such as the European Environment Agency, the European Commission, the OECD, UNEP and the Global Footprint Network. The discussion covered a wide range of topics regarding how sustainability can be measured and produced important results on how to identify and quantify trade-offs between different dimensions of sustainability.

What are the expected impacts of climate change at the regional and local level at the German Baltic Sea coast? How can local stakeholders adapt to these? What kind of scientific information do they need as a basis for implementing such measures? These questions were discussed by 75 scientists in the fields of climate and natural science research, political science and sociology, together with representatives from politics, administration, economy and civil society in several science-practice dialogues.

The first Smart Energy Dialog, held on 9 June 2010 in Berlin, established a forum for discussion on the co-transformation of the energy and transport sectors. Sixty European and American experts from the areas of industry, research and policy-making came together at the Hertie School of Governance to discuss a roadmap towards energy security, energy efficiency and the decarbonisation of our economies.

The RADOST project brought together roughly 100 participants to its first annual conference, which took place in Schwerin. The focus of the conference was set on the challenges of climate change in the German Baltic Sea region. Discussions were held about the current state of scientific knowledge and approaches and practical examples of adaptation measures. The conference took place under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Tourism Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

In the context of the conference "Coastal Management &amp; Climate Change: Status Quo" on 5 and 6 October 2009 in Rostock – Warnemünde the RADOST project (Regional Adaptation Strategies for the German Baltic Sea Coast) celebrated its regional kick-off.
