Every two years the European Sustainable Development Strategy is being put to the test. With its monitoring report, the European Statistical Office Eurostat presents EU data on the development of the sustainability indicators. In a consortium with the Vienna University of Economics and Business, INFRAS and the Institute for Public Policy Research, Ecologic Institute drafted these monitoring reports for the European Sustainable Development Strategy 2009 and 2011 on behalf of Eurostat.Read more
Ecologic led a comprehensive review of possible resource-specific indicators that might be used to monitor the decoupling of resource use from negative environmental impacts. The study focused particularly on the Ecological Footprint indicator and also developed a small set of indicators that together could assess progress toward decoupling. The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) identifies targets for several core environmental policy categories and measures how close countries come to meet them. Ecologic conducted a stocktaking and analysis of the data sources of the EPI for Germany, complemented by an assessment of the applied method and methodologies of the Index.
