The war in Ukraine is sparking a wide-ranging revamping of energy policy in Europe with a bold new objective: to wean the continent off Russian gas – as rapidly and comprehensively as possible – and accelerate Europe's green energy transition. Now, European leaders are pushing for a faster switch to renewables as part of a strategy to end dependence on Russian gas. Their ambitious plans now call for fast-tracking deployment of solar and tripling clean energy capacity by 2030.
