Martinez, Grit and Nico Stelljes 2022: Analyse des Umweltprogramms der Bundesregierung von 1971 und dazugehörigem Materialband. Berlin: Ecologic Institute.

51 years ago, on 14 October 1971, the Federal Government's Environmental Programme was adopted and has lost none of its relevance to this day. On the occasion of the conclusion of the contemporary historical study on German environmental policy since 1971 conducted by Ecologic Institute, an exciting analysis is now available.

For more than 20 years, Ecologic Institute has contributed to scientific environmental policy advice with practice-relevant research and critical analyses. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Environmental Programme, Ecologic Institute was commissioned by the Federal Ministry for the Environment to produce a historical study on German environmental policy since 1971.

In this final report entitled "Analysis of the Federal Government's Environmental Programme of 1971 and the accompanying material volume", expert opinions and classifications are combined with a media analysis of the early 1970s and media coverage in the run-up to the 50th anniversary. The analysis by Grit Martinez and Nico Stelljes of Ecologic Institute focused on the question: What can we learn from 50 years of environmental programme and policy for the future shaping of German and international environmental policy? The report is available for download.
