News

On Tuesday, 27 September 2011, Ecologic Institute will celebrate this important milestone with a special event which will be held at the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique in Brussels.

The evening programme will begin at 6:00pm with a panel discussion on GDP and Indicators of Sustainable Development. The debate will assess the deficits of GDP in measuring sustainable progress and whether alternative indicators could complement or even replace it. The discussion will also cover the current attempts of numerous organizations to provide better indicators for measuring sustainability.

The Institute is pleased to welcome Paul Ekins, Professor of Energy and Environment Policy, UCL Energy Institute, University College London, and Mathis Wackernagel, President of Global Footprint Network, for the panel discussion. The debate will be moderated by R. Andreas Kraemer, Director of Ecologic Institute, Berlin.

A cocktail reception with guests from the European Commission, the European Parliament and environmental associations as well as other key actors will follow, taking place around 8:00pm.

This anniversary event will be part of the In-Stream conference on the links between sustainability measures and mainstream indicators, which is organized with the support of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research.

We cordially invite you to take part in our jubilation party. Don’t miss this great chance to take part in one of the year’s most interesting events on European Environmental Policy!

We look forward to celebrating with you!
