Comments on European Commission’s Green Book on Development Policy – Brief to the European Parliament

Project
Duration

In December 2010, the EU Commission published a Green Book on the future of EU development policy, entitled "EU development policy in support of inclusive growth and sustainable development - Increasing the impact of EU development policy." At the request of the European Parliament, Ecologic Institute commented on certain aspects of the Green Book. The brief is available for download.

Christiane Gerstetter and Benjamin Görlach of Ecologic Institute responded to a question from the European Parliament on the relationship between climate change, biodiversity and development. In particular, they focused on how adaptation to climate change and development could be more strongly integrated. Other aspects of the Green Book, which the Südwind Institute reacted to, are how the impact of EU development policy may be increased, and what role foreign direct investment in developing countries and technology transfer to these countries play.

The brief is part of the framework contract on development policy with the European Parliament that Ecologic Institute coordinates.

The brief [pdf, 725 KB, English] is available for download.
