Description of German Waste Treatment Technologies

Project
Duration
-

Policy makers from Middle and Eastern Europe as well as from developing countries visited Germany to co-operate on issues of environmental technology transfer. Representatives from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the German Federal Environmental Agency (UBA) met foreign partners and other stakeholders of the environmental technology transfer in conferences, workshops etc.

In order to support the Federal Environmental Agency, Ecologic Institute drafted technology overviews for the following waste treatment modes: (1) waste incineration; (2) Mechanical-biological treatment; (3) Biowaste treatment. These overviews contain information on the political and legal background of these technologies, the standard technical process, the costs and products of the respective waste treatment. Furthermore, they include a list of German companies in the respective fields that plan or construct waste treatment installations abroad.
