Green lead markets aim to accelerate industrial transformation by creating targeted demand for climate-friendly basic materials such as steel, cement, or ammonia. They are intended to drive innovation and promote low-emission production methods.
This project, commissioned by WWF, explored how companies in energy-intensive sectors perceive the opportunities and barriers associated with green lead markets. The focus was on identifying practical and policy-related conditions for their development.
The project was based on 14 qualitative interviews with producers and buyers from the steel, cement, and chemical industries. The interviews explored challenges, expectations, and potential policy instruments to support green market development.
The findings provide practical insights for the policy discourse on green lead markets.
