This fact sheet highlights the growing global support for the Mission Soil Manifesto and the key role of the EU Mission A Soil Deal for Europe in protecting and restoring healthy soils.

Progress of the EU Mission Soil

The Mission Soil is making tangible progress: projects are delivering results, collaboration with land users, municipalities, and citizens is increasing, and the new Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive strengthens soil protection across Europe.

A global network for healthy soils

Since April 2023, the Mission Soil Manifesto has been open for signature. This voluntary declaration now brings together 3,655 signatories from 94 countries, including individuals, municipalities, companies, NGOs, and international organisations such as ACR+ and UNESCO. Signatories state that they are particularly committed to topics such as protecting soil biodiversity, preserving soil organic carbon, and improving soil structure, which are key elements for climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and robust value chains.

Why sign?

  • Visibility for commitment to soil protection
  • Access to knowledge, exchange & events
  • Impetus for innovation in sustainable land use and the bioeconomy
  • Shared thematic priorities

Ecologic Institute plays a central role in supporting the EU Mission Soil Platform by strengthening stakeholder ownership, visibility, and engagement around the Mission Soil Manifesto. Through the development and management of the Manifesto, a global stakeholder database, and the activation of signatories and Ambassadors, Ecologic Institute contributes to building an active international community committed to soil protection, soil literacy, and citizen engagement.

Those who want to support healthy soils should sign the Manifesto and become part of this growing community.
