Samir Mamamdov is an Intern in Ecologic Institute’s Climate Programme. His research and interests focus on European environmental policies. He is fluent in English and Azerbaijani, speaks Russian proficiently and has knowledge of Turkish.
As part of the Climate & Energy topic team, Samir Mammadov supports research on climate policy monitoring and evaluation. His work includes desk research, literature reviews, and policy analysis, with a particular focus on the development and assessment of key performance indicators (KPIs) for climate-related indicators. He contributes to projects such as Ariadne and the European Climate Neutrality Observatory (ECNO), where he works on strengthening climate indicator frameworks, evaluating policy performance and developing monitoring mechanisms.
Alongside his academic studies, Samir Mammadov has gained professional experience in climate resilience, sustainability compliance, and environmental governance. He has worked with the Municipality of Breda (the Netherlands) on climate resilience, supported sustainability compliance activities at ASML, and conducted research on governance and environmental justice at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). He has also volunteered at the European Youth Parliament and worked with topics connected to EU committees (Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), Transport and Tourism (TRAN); Climate Change (CLIM), etc.).
Samir Mammadov holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science for Sustainability, Ecosystems and Technology from Avans University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands) and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Urban Environmental Management at Wageningen University & Research (the Netherlands).
