Sophie Fuchs (née Bartosch) works as a Fellow at the Ecologic Institute in Berlin. She provides scientific research and policy analysis in the field of energy and climate policy. Sophie works in German and English.
Her work focuses, in particular, on policy instruments for the transition to climate neutrality and on sector-specific entry points and political-economy constraints. Currently, Sophie contributes to the Ariadne project, which explores detailed strategies for the energy transition in Germany and at the European Union level, with the Ecologic Institute analysing options for a supportive EU governance framework.
Prior to joining the Ecologic Institute, she worked as a researcher at the Potsdam-Institute for Climate Impact Research (focus: modelling of sectoral transformation pathways) and at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (focus: EU Emission Trading System (ETS)), as well as a policy adviser at Germanwatch (focus: Paris-compatible finance and development banks). Throughout her career, she has led and contributed to various energy and climate policy projects for European and German institutions.
Sophie holds a master’s degree in Economics and a bachelor’s degree in Governance and Public Policy.
