As an expert reviewer, Tanja Srebotnjak, Senior Fellow at Ecologic Institute, will participate in the 2012 Review Workshop of the Environmental Performance Index Expert. The Workshop will take place on 26 and 27 September 2011 at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) was developed by the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy (YCELP) and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) with the support of the World Economic Forum. This Expert Review Workshop aims to continue the EPI’s history of methodological refinement, transparency and open peer-review process.

As Director of the Environmental Performance Measurement Project at YCELP from 2003-2007 Tanja Srebotnjak was a leading contributor to its methodology and its publications in 2006 (Pilot EPI), 2008 and 2010. Dr. Srebotnjak continues her decade-spanning work on the EPI and its predecessor, the Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI). Together with other experts from academic, research and policy institutions, she will discuss the EPI’s data quality, statistical methods to fill in missing data as well as the indexes weighting and aggregation approaches.

The 2012 EPI will be published in January 2012 at the Word Economic Forum’s annual meeting.
