Structures, Policy Instruments and Key Stakeholders in Tourism and Environment

Project
Duration
-

Over the past few years environment and tourism has evolved into an issue of importance. As increasing environmental problems result from tourist activities, efforts to confront the issue are becoming more diverse and intense. This is mainly the outcome of the growing understanding that a sound environment sets the basis for any succesful tourism policy.

The Office of Technology Assessment at the German Parliament (TAB) is addressing this issue in its project "Development and consequences of tourism". A first part of this project is the study "Structures, Policy instruments and key stakeholders in tourism and environment" conducted by Ecologic. The main objective of the project is to analyse the relationship between environmental and tourism policy in Germany. This entails an analysis of the current state of research as well as its gaps on the one hand, and the identification of existing links between the two policy fields on the other.

The German study "Structures, Policy instruments and key stakeholders in tourism and environment" [pdf, 379 KB, German] is available for download.

Ecologic published two German books on "Environmental protection and Tourism" and "Tourism and Environmental Policy".
