Simon Marr and Sebastian Oberthür have together with Christoph Bail co-authored a chapter which has been published in one of the leading German handbooks on European and German environmental law. The chapter, entitled "Climate protection and law", appears in the Handbuch zum europäischen und deutschen Umweltrecht, which is edited by Hans-Werner Rengeling.

The Doctoral Thesis of Simon Marr, lawyer with Ecologic Legal, has been published. The purpose of this study is to examine the present status of implementation of the precautionary principle in the law of the sea and to extract evidence of its acceptance as part of customary international law. The thesis examines the precautionary principle in the law of the sea. The precautionary principle is a risk management tool for policy makers which has been broadly implemented in international environmental law in a variety of different sectors and formulations.

The book "Participation of Non-Governmental Organisations in International Environmental Co-operation" analyses the importance of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the relationship between the legal basis and the practical influence of NGOs in different areas of international environmental governance.

Transatlantic co-operation is crucial in advancing international environmental policy-making. A new book on international environmental policy-making and transatlantic co-operation addresses this subject. The book documents the papers and discussion of an international expert workshop held in the run-up to the World Summit on Sustainable Development.

Europe and the European Union are facing profound changes and the importance of environmental policy is growing. In response to this, Daimler-Benz Research & Technology has asked Ecologic to prepare a report on trends in European environmental policy.

On 15 October 2003, Wenke Hansen, Ecologic, one of the main authors of the comparative study on the international water sector presented some key messages of this study. On the occasion of the publication of the study in five volumes and the European Commission's Communication on the Internal Market Strategy the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour (BAK) and the Austrian Association of Cities had invited to the event at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the European Union in Brussels "Liberalisation of water for Europe's citizens? – The Internal Market Strategy in the light of European experiences".

Dr. Nils Meyer-Ohlendorf focuses in his contributing article on the influence of European environmental interest groups on European environmental Policy.

The main conclusions and results of a study exploring functions, rules and practices of NGO participation in international environmental co-operation are presented in an Ecologic Brief. This Ecologic Brief identifies a number of options for a strengthened participation of NGOs in international environmental governance and is intended to contribute to the related international discussions.

Ecologic experts on private sector participation and regulatory oversight in the water sector contribute to an OECD publication on "Social Issues in the Provision and Pricing of Water Services". This book explores the interface between environmental and social elements of water pricing policies in OECD countries. It focuses on the affordability of water services, as well as on the social measures aimed at resolving these affordability problems.

Volume Two, "Selected Issues in Water Resources Management in Europe", presents and discusses ten topics of European and world-wide relevance. The book is an attempt at shedding light on the many problems that are common to all countries, but that different areas may face with different degrees of relevance and urgency.

The lecture tour from 31 March to 4 April 2008 was initiated by the World Affairs Council of Rhode Island (WACRI) and involved a number of universities, law firms, local chapters of the WACA, and Eric M. Warburg Chapters of the ACG, as well as representatives from consular offices of EU Member States.

The Yearbook Ecology will be published in the end of September 2003. Ecologic is one of the institutes supporting this yearbook. Like its predecessors, the Yearbook Ecology 2004 will present contributions on ecology that inform about trends in environmental pollution, analyze and criticize governmental environmental policy, document historical environmental events and draft visions of a sustainable world.

The book "Risks of Mobile Telecommunication" was published in the series "Studies of the Office for Technology Assessment at the German Parliament". Substantial parts of the book are based on a study conducted by Ecologic. The publication presents an analysis of the scientific and public discourse on the health risks of mobile phones and transmitters. Furthermore, the book gives an overview of the regulatory framework conditions of mobile telecommunication.

Does a connection exist between environmental degradation, resource scarcity and violent conflicts? Global environmental changes, such as climate change and sea level rise, shortage of fresh water and rapid soil degradation increasingly highlight the dimensions of environmental change in foreign and security policy. To reverse these negative environmental consequences over the long term, comprehensive and preventive policy approaches are urgently required.

The adoption of the Kyoto Protocol in December 1997 was a major achievement in the endeavour to tackle the problem of global climate change at the dawn of the 21st century. After many years of involvement in the negotiation process, the book's two internationally recognised authors now offer the international community a first hand and inside perspective of the debate on the Kyoto Protocol.
