Project
Duration
-

The aim of the project is to evaluate the agricultural extension services in Schleswig-Holstein with regard to their impact on the protected goods water, climate, soil and biodiversity. In addition, new advisory measures, incentive and control instruments are to be developed on the basis of the analysis and evaluation results.

The State of Schleswig-Holstein - like other federal states - relies on the principle of supportive agricultural extension services and the voluntary participation of farmers in the implementation of measures to reduce the negative impacts of agricultural production on the environmental media.

Building on various structures and support programmes, the Ministry for Energy system transformation, agriculture, environment, nature and digitisation of the Land Schleswig-Holstein has established a supporting agricultural extension service for the following areas:

  • Implementation of the Water Framework Directive of the European Union (EC WFD) with the aim of achieving or maintaining a good status water bodies by reducing nutrient inputs (focus on nitrogen and phosphate)
  • "Sustainable Agriculture" programme with the aim of implementing measures in the fields of climate, energy, grassland, animal welfare, organic farming and integrated plant protection that have a positive impact on public goods
  • Groundwater-conserving land management in water protection areas with the aim of reducing nutrient inputs (focus on nitrogen)

Ecologic Institute together with Schnittstelle Boden will evaluate and optimise MELUND's consulting measures for water, soil and climate friendly agriculture that promotes biodiversity.
