COP23 side event: Long-term climate policy frameworks - elements for success

The Paris Agreement sets several long-term objectives, especially the overarching temperature goals. To help countries steer the path towards the necessary transition to a climate friendly future, it also invites all Parties to develop long-term strategies. National and sub-national actors around the globe are already undertaking quantitative analysis and developing scenarios – and are even adopting legal frameworks to establish processes and institutions to coordinate and monitor the implementation of long-term strategies.

This side event presents new and ongoing analysis on both long-term scenario development as well as the respective governance frameworks and discuss it with practitioners involved. Furthermore, case studies from around the world are showcased. More about the presented report ...
