The Climateurope2 Webstival took place on 19 and 20 September 2024. This virtual event provided a platform for exchange on the development, use and quality of climate services and their importance for innovation and policymaking. The Webstival tied in with the 2022 and 2023 editions and once again addressed topics relevant to the application of climate services. The focus was on what makes a climate service effective, equitable and transparent and how it can support transformative action to tackle the climate crisis. This included both mitigation and adaptation measures.
Programme focus
The Webstival offered several plenary sessions and topic-specific workshops. Among other topics, bridging the financial protection gap, developing a health shield and storytelling for municipal climate services were discussed. A special feature of this edition were interactive hands-on sessions in which participants gained practical insights into the planning and utilisation of climate services.
Ecologic Institute's contribution to the Webstival
Dr Grit Martinez from Ecologic Institute moderated the session ‘Climate Storytelling for Municipal Services’. This session addressed the question of how local knowledge and narrative approaches can be integrated into climate services to support municipal climate adaptation processes. In addition, Dr Grit Martinez contributed her expertise in climate communication and moderated the exchange on what constitutes good climate services and how scientific data can be made accessible for municipal services.
