On 28 January 2025, the Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission hosted a 1-day event on public funding for permanent carbon removal.

The event focused on exploring and enhancing the financing landscape for  climate action, with a specific emphasis on instruments supporting permanent carbon removal.

Through a series of presentations and discussions, participants gained insights into existing European financing instruments, such as the Innovation Fund, the European Innovation Council and Horizon Europe, and debated ideas to boost funding mechanisms for permanent carbon removal solutions.

The day aimed to foster dialogue among stakeholders and provided actionable insights to shape more effective financial support for climate goals.

Participants were able to attend both onsite (limited spots) and online.
