The Alpine region is a unique natural area that connects many countries and at the same time faces major challenges. The EU Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR) has set binding targets for restoring degraded ecosystems. The Alpine countries now have the opportunity to coordinate their national plans and thus implement more effective cross-border measures. A coordinated approach strengthens the protection of Alpine biodiversity and supports the goals of international agreements such as the Alpine Convention.
Project objective:
The workshop aims to support the member states of the Alpine Convention in jointly developing a draft that describes the synergies between their national restoration plans. In addition, ideas for concrete cross-border projects will be collected that can be incorporated into the plans. This will create a basis for strengthening cooperation and nature conservation measures throughout the Alpine region.
Ecologic's role:
The Ecologic Institute is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting the international online workshop. This includes preparing the content, moderating, technical implementation, and creating background materials. After the workshop, Ecologic will evaluate the results and summarize them in a report that will help the Alpine countries in drawing up their restoration plans.
