On 4 December 2024, the Ecologic Institute hosted an initial meeting with Dr. Tobias Raffel, Managing Director of Biodiversity Bridge e.V. Since December 2025, the Ecologic Institute has been an official partner of Biodiversity Bridge. Together with additional partner institutions – including the BMW Foundation, the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB), the Natural History Museum Berlin, the SUN Institute, the Value Balancing Alliance, Nature Wealth, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the WWF – the collaboration aims to strengthen knowledge exchange and joint engagement for biodiversity.

Biodiversity Bridge pursues the goal of systematically integrating biodiversity into corporate strategies and building bridges between science, business and civil society. The partnership with the Ecologic Institute complements this approach through robust research on biodiversity policy, nature-based solutions and international conservation frameworks.

The cooperation includes the development of joint knowledge formats, support for relevant policy and research processes, and the advancement of strategic questions. A particular focus is on translating scientific evidence more rapidly into economic decision-making – especially in light of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the new Nature Restoration Regulation.

The initial meeting revealed numerous points of connection and significant potential across research, business, NGOs and policy. The participating institutions see the partnership as an opportunity to enhance the effectiveness of biodiversity measures and to generate momentum for strategic decision-making.

Together, we are creating the foundations for ensuring that biodiversity is systematically integrated into strategic, political and economic decision-making processes in the future.
