Justus Schmöger works as a Research Assistant for the Ecologic Institute and supports the Adaptation Team and the Water Team. His particular interest lies in adaptation to climate change, both in the economic and in the ecological European context. He speaks German and English fluently and has basic knowledge of Mandarin.
At the Ecologic Institute, Justus Schmöger is particularly involved in the project "Mainstreaming the ecological restoration of freshwater-related ecosystems in a landscape context" (Merlin), with a focus on conducting a socio-economic benefit assessment of restoration measures and the resulting ecosystem services that accompany the implementation of nature-based solutions. In addition, he contributes to the project "Guidelines on climate-resilient landscapes", which aims to develop guidelines for regional and local actors, political decision-makers, land managers, and planners for forward-looking landscape design.
Justus Schmöger studies economics at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. During the course of his studies, he developed a particular interest in environmental policy and European economic policy, as well as in the reconciliation of economic and ecological principles in political decision-making processes.
