1. Arctic at stake – Experts call for improvements in governing climate-change adaptation
EU Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Diana Wallis, Member of European Parliament welcomed more than 120 experts from government and civil society worldwide to discuss “Transatlantic Policy Options for the Marine Arctic” at a conference in Brussels on 5 March 2009.

2. Trade and Climate Change – Triggers or Barriers for Climate-Friendly Technology Transfer and Development? – Publication
In their policy paper for the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation’s Dialogue on Globalization section, Nils Meyer-Ohlendorf and Christiane Gerstetter of Ecologic Legal shed light at the most important aspects of the relationship between trade and climate change policies. They investigate which trade-related policies should be adopted to combat climate change and review the compatibility of those measures with the law of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Particular attention is given to issues that are of relevance to developing countries.

3. Environmental Policy Integration and Multi-Level Governance - Policy paper online
The final policy conference of the project Environmental Policy Integration and Multi-Level Governance (EPIGOV) was held in Brussels on 23 January 2009. The conference brought together more than 50 experts, academics, policy-makers and representatives of NGOs and business to discuss the results of this three year project. The presentations and the debate focussed on the integration of environmental concerns into sector policies (environmental policy integration, EPI) and its relationship to modes of governance at global/international, EU-, national and sub-national level. 4. Climate Change and the Concept of Environmental Security under the Obama administration – Dinner Dialogue with Sherri Goodman
At an Ecologic Dinner Dialogue on 5 March 2009, Sherri Goodman spoke about the current developments in the concept of environmental security under the new Obama administration. Sherri Goodman - now chief counsel for the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA), a military think tank, served as Deputy under Secretary of Defense for Environmental Security under President Clinton. Sherri Goodman put a clear focus on the development of new and energy friendly technologies as well as on more energy efficiency in order to prevent international security threats.

5. Learning from Europe's Mistakes – Can the US catch up in climate protection? - Publication
"A New Transatlantic Partnership" is the theme of the first issue in 2009 of the Global Edition of the journal "Internationale Politik" (IP Global Edition), published by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).  R. Andreas Kraemer contributed a preview of the possibilities for future cooperation between the US and Europe both on climate and energy policy for jointly meeting the transformational challenges ahead and on the Arctic, where the future of international relations may well be decided.

6. Climate Change as a Security Threat of the Next Generation for NATO - Lecture
In the run up to the NATO Summit in Strasbourg-Kehl in April 2009, NATO Public Diplomacy Division and Carnegie Europe launched a discussion on "The Next Generation of Security Threats" and the reprogramming of NATO. They invited R. Andreas Kraemer of Ecologic Institute to provide keynote commentary on the question: "Should Climate Change be a Priority?" at the inaugural event of a new series.

IEDEATH March 2009 is an informal network of web designers advocating safe internet use. This initiative, started by Norwegian software engineers, is quickly gaining international support.
