Sustainable energy and resource efficiency to be achieved through efficiency in energy use, renewable energy supplies, and technological innovation was the subject of a panel discussion presented by the German Federal Ministry for Environment on the occasion of the 15th Session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) in New York, NY, on 9 May 2007.  R. Andreas Kraemer of Ecologic Institute moderated the event.

The speakers were:

  • Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Environment Minister, Germany and Presidency of the European Union
  • Malik Amin Aslam, Minister of State for Environment, Pakistan and Chair of the Group of 77 at the United Nations
  • Ian Pearson, Minister of State for Climate Change and the Environment, Department of Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, United Kingdom
  • Achim Steiner, Executive Director, United Nations Environment Programme
  • Timothy Wirth, President, UN Foundation
  • Valli Moosa, Non-Executive Chairman, ESKOM, South Africa
