Ecologic Institute Transatlantic Program celebrates ten years of international exchange

Enhancing mutual understanding of how environmental policy issues are framed, discussed, and handled in the international arena is an important goal of the Transatlantic Program. Since the beginning of Ecologic Institute’s Transatlantic Program, more than 50 young people interested in environmental policy have come to Berlin to participate in Ecologic Institute’s international environmental research and consulting program. Both the number of researchers coming to Berlin as well as the range of countries of origin continues to grow: Today, the Transatlantic Program hosts at least five junior researchers each year from countries ranging from the US and Canada to Mexico and Guatemala. In addition to supporting research exchange, the Transatlantic Program also provides a platform for regular dialogue among Berlin’s transatlantic community and guest experts and covers a wide range of issue areas.

Each year, Ecologic Institute invites several recent university graduates and young professionals working with similar institutes, foundations or academia to spend a period of time in Berlin, where they have the opportunity to join international collaborative project teams and gain familiarity with European environmental policy issues. In addition to the transatlantic interns and fellows brought to Berlin by Ecologic Institute directly, a number of Robert Bosch Fellows and Alexander von Humboldt German Chancellor Fellows have elected to spend their time in Germany at Ecologic Institute. The Konrad von Moltke Fund, which is managed by Ecologic Institute, has also brought young researchers to Berlin with special interest in the topics that Konrad von Moltke worked on.
