On 8 and 9 March 2012, Ecologic Institute organized and implemented a visitors program for four vice ministers from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan that focused on water management and technical cooperation with meetings in Berlin and Potsdam.

The visitors' program included dialogues with representatives and members of the German Water Partnership (GWP), a joint initiative of the German private and public sectors, as well as meetings with the International Commission for the Protection of the Odra River against Pollution (IKSO) and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam.

The guests also attended an Ecologic Dinner Dialogue on water management with representatives from the Berlin policy and think tank community.

The program took place in the context of the conference "Water Diplomacy for Central Asia" organized and chaired by the German Federal Foreign Office. The conference aimed at fostering regional cooperation between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and resulted in the creation of the "Berlin Declaration" (Berliner Erklärung).
