Jacob Ferrell is a Research Assistant working on European climate and energy policy at Ecologic Institute, which he joined in 2025. A trained political ecologist, his work engages carbon mitigation and climate neutrality at the European Climate Neutrality Observatory (ENCO). Additionally, he contributes research on industrial decarbonization, carbon dioxide removal, overshoot modeling, and climate justice using critical quantitative and qualitative methods. Jacob is an English native speaker.
Prior to joining Ecologic, Jacob Ferrell researched local community benefits frameworks at World Resource Institute's and conducted policy advocacy at the intersection of justice and carbon dioxide removal at the National Wildlife Federation in Washington D.C. He has also been a Junior Non-Resident Research Fellow at the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal. His research has contributed to two recent books about the socio-economic implications of climate overshoot: Overshoot and The Long Heat.
Jacob holds a master's degree in Human Ecology: Culture, Power & Sustainability from Lund University in Sweden and a bachelor's degree in History & International Development from Ohio State University in the USA.
