Panel discussion

On 9 June 2026, Dr Grit Martinez represented Ecologic Institute at a parliamentary breakfast on marine conservation hosted in the German Bundestag by ADRA Germany, Rare Europe and the Blue Action Fund. The discussion examined how Germany can strengthen locally led and financially sustainable marine conservation approaches, including community participation, nature-based solutions and international partnerships.

Using Mozambique as a case study, participants discussed experiences with community-based marine conservation and the challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss. The event also connected insights from the project Ecosystem-based Adaptation for Coastal Regions Worldwide (TROPICAL ADAPT) with ongoing policy and conservation initiatives.
